The American firm YOUNG & RUBICAM has broken off the talks it was in with Britain's WPP (see EI of 29 April) and begun talks with France's PUBLICIS in view of a merger. The French group is said to be proposing at least $60 a share in YOUNG & RUBICAM, valuing its target at $4.33 bn, says the Wall Street Journal.
