ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) brewing

The Belgian group INTERBREW would like to buy the brewing activities of the British firm WHITBREAD, as well as those of its compatriot BASS, the Financial Times has announced. Should the operation succeed, the two activities would be merged to give rise to Britain's second largest beer company. The daily estimates the value of WHITBREAD's brewing assets at between £300 and £400 million and those of BASS at £2 bn.
