The Anglo-Dutch editor REED ELSEVIER acquired for roughly USD 299.5 million and through its subsidiary REED'S CAHNERS BUSINESS INFORMATION, the American group CMD (turnover in 1999 of USD 126 million with 1,400 employees). It is the largest player in the professional information market in the United States with 140 Internet sites targeting building professionals.
