The American MONSANTO ceded its sweetener business to an American group of investors JW CHILDS EQUITY PARTNERS for USD 440 million. Furthermore, it ceded its shares in sweeteners in Europe to its Japanese partner AJIMOTO for USD 67 million. Together they controlled NUTRASWEET and EURO-ASPARTAME.
