British group COURTAULDS has accepted the improved bid made by American SARA LEE, amounting to 145 pence per share as opposed to 100 pence initially. The new offer makes the British group worth £150.5 million. COURTAULDS is the leader in the lingerie business in Great Britain with a turnover of £900 million in 1999 and 20,000 employed. SARA LEE employs 138,000 in 40 countries and made a turnover of $20 billion for the financial year ending July 1999.
