CREDIT SUISSE FIRST BOSTON PRIVATE EQUITY has paid £440 million to PPM VENTURES (insurance group PRUDENTIAL) for a majority stake in GALA, Britain's largest bingo firm with 149 halls. GALA had a turnover of £190 million at the close of the financial year in September 1999.
