ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) automobiles

Italian group FIAT (turnover $46.378 billion with 2,300,000 vehicles sold in 1999 and 220,000 employed) and American group GM - GENERAL MOTORS (turnover $175,558 billion with 8,800,000 vehicles sold in 1999 and 594,000 employed) have officially announced their alliance. The agreement will mainly be implemented with an exchange of holdings whereby GM will acquire 20% of FIAT AUTO, the FIAT parent company obtaining 5.1% of its partner in exchange.
