José Maria Aznar's PP holds absolute majority in Congress

Brussels, 13/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - With 183 seats out of 350, the Spanish People's Party (PP) headed by José Maria Aznar won the absolute majority of seats at the Spanish Congress during legislative elections this weekend in Spain. With 125 representatives elected, the Spanish Socialist Labour Party (PSOE) under Joaquim Alumunia lost 16 seats. Izquierda Unida falls from 21 to 8 seats.
