ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) gambling

The American casino group MGM GRAND (turnover of USD 1.4 billion in 1999 with a workforce of 6,600) has launched a friendly public takeover bid on MIRAGE RESORTS (sales of USD 2.4 billion in 1999 with 29,850 employees), one of its competitors. The bid is for USD 3.2 billion, or 17 dollars a share.
