In the framework of a restructuring programme designed to enable it to achieve its growth objectives, the Anglo-Dutch group UNILEVER has announced the gradual elimination of 1,200 of its 1,600 trade marks and 25,000 jobs. In 1999, the group's taxable profits slipped 6% to EUR 2.7 billion and turnover stagnated at EUR 41 billion.
