ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) speech technology

The Belgian specialist in speech technology L&H -LERNOUT & HAUSPIE-, will be buying the French company ELAN INFORMATIQUE, specialist in "text-to-speech" technology, from MATRA NORTEL. L&H will make an initial payment of USD 7 million, followed by another 8 million payable over two years, plus USD 1 million in shares.
