ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) gold

The South African mining company HARMONY has acquired 19.95% in the Australian gold producer GOLDFIELDS for the sum of Aus$41 million. HARMONY has also made a bid for acquiring its compatriot RANDFONTEIN ESTATES MINES which, if successful, will make HARMONY the 6th largest gold producer worldwide with an annual production of around 2.2 million ounces.
