Brussels, 04/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - Two British members of the European Parliament's constitutional committee, Richard Corbett (Labour) and Andrew Duff (Liberal Democrat), welcomed in a joint statement the publication of a joint position paper by the British government and Liberal Democrats on the next EU institutional reform. The paper is the "welcome sign of a cross-party attempt to strengthen British European policy", say the two MEPs, who hope that Labour and the Liberal Democrats will now have discussions on the next IGC to take on board the essential proposals of the European Parliament, supported by both Labour and Liberal Democrat MEPs.
