Frankfurt institute publishes recommendations in order to harmonise corporate events processing before ‘T+1’ transition

23/07/2026 (Agence Europe)On Thursday, 23 July, the European Central Bank (ECB) published an operational implementation guide in preparation for the EU’s transition to a ‘T+1’ settlement cycle, which is scheduled for 11 October 2027. In the guide, it recommends harmonising corporate events processing (dividends, mergers, public offers, etc.) between market infrastructures and financial intermediaries. The document gives a detailed explanation of the new rules applicable to key corporate event dates and to the mechanisms for managing transactions pending settlement (‘market claims’, ‘transformations’, and ‘buyer protection’) so that these processes can be adapted to the ‘T+1’ cycle. Lastly, the text recommends that, insofar as possible, issuers avoid announcing corporate events between 4 and 15 October 2027, the period for transitioning to the new system.
