14/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The new strategy for the outermost regions, which was due to be unveiled on 22 July, will ultimately be presented on 15 September, according to a new provisional Commission agenda dated 14 July. According to our information, the European Commissioner for Cohesion, Raffaele Fitto, is expected to present that same day this new strategy, together with an ‘omnibus’ dedicated to the outermost regions, a package of derogatory measures on the basis of Article 349 TFEU. This would make it possible to take account of the specific features of territories located on the periphery of the Union in order to introduce certain derogations from European legislation, such as the Regulation on the Emissions Trading System (ETS) or the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
