European Parliament opposes three market authorisations

08/07/2026 (Agence Europe)The European Parliament adopted, on Wednesday 8 July, three objections to draft market authorisations for new genetically modified organisms (GMOs), in accordance with Rule 115(2) and (3) of its Rules of Procedure. The objections concern the genetically modified maize NK603 × T25 (460 votes in favour of the objection, 189 against and 14 abstentions), the genetically modified soybean MON 87705 (466 votes in favour, 175 against and 16 abstentions), as well as the genetically modified maize DP202216 × NK603 × DAS-40278-9 and certain of its sub-combinations (417 votes in favour, 167 against and 15 abstentions). Through these votes, MEPs are asking the European Commission not to authorise these GMOs, citing in particular concerns linked to their potential impacts on health and the environment, and the risk assessment.
