EU strengthens its digital sovereignty in cloud domain by choosing exclusively European suppliers

On Friday 17 April, the Commission announced that it was awarding €180 million over six years to four European cloud service providers, with the aim of strengthening the EU’s sovereignty in the sector and reducing its dependence on American suppliers. The contract concerns EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies.

The four service providers selected are European companies: Post Telecom, with its partners CleverCloud and OVHcloud, StackIT, Scaleway, and Proximus, which is joining...
