04/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – In a joint statement on Tuesday 4 March, 29 green NGOs, including WWF, Greenpeace and Birdlife, called on the EU to improve compliance with the “do no significant harm” (DNSH) principle in the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. Designed to exclude investments that are harmful to the environment, this principle has been implemented “inconsistently and insufficiently”, according to the NGOs. To facilitate implementation, they are calling for the adoption of new DNSH guidelines that would favour a “horizontal exclusion list as well as common rules and principles”, rather than “programme-specific guidance” for defining what constitutes significant harm to environmental objectives. This exclusion list would be supplemented by sector-specific guidance, in order to “make it easier to focus on high-impact activities”. See the statement: https://aeur.eu/f/fqb (FS)
