14/02/25 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 14 February, the European Commission opened the competition to award players in the organic value chain who develop projects that improve organic food production and consumption. From 11 February to 27 April, any EU actor or institution with a major project that contributes to greater accessibility and better prices for organic products in the EU can apply in six categories: best organic farmer, best organic region/bio-district, best organic city, best organic food processing SME, best organic food retailer, best organic restaurant/food service. The EU Organic Awards are organised jointly by the Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Committee of the Regions, Copa-Cogeca and IFOAM Organics Europe, with the participation of the European Parliament and the EU Council in the evaluation.
