Commissioner-designate Costas Kadis to evaluate Common Fisheries Policy and create ‘European Oceans Pact’

At his hearing before MEPs on Wednesday 6 November, the European Commissioner-designate for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis from Cyprus, undertook to evaluate the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and to present a ‘European Oceans Pact’ by the end of 2025.

The creation of a dedicated Fisheries and Oceans portfolio is proof that the fisheries sector deserves special attention. Costas Kadis wants to live up to the expectations placed in him.
