On Thursday 17 October, MEPs on the Committees on Foreign Affairs and on Development chose the three finalists for the 2024 Sakharov Prize (see EUROPE B13491A15).

These are: Dr Gubad Ibadoghlu, academic, anti-corruption campaigner and critic of the fossil fuel industry in Azerbaijan, initially proposed by the Greens/EFA Group; members of the Venezuelan democratic opposition María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, “representing all Venezuelans inside and outside the country...
