29/08/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 August, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, appointed Matthew Tabone to head her private office, following the departure of Leticia Zuleta De Reales Ansaldo, who will head the directorate responsible for relations with national parliaments within the EU institution. Since 2013, Mr Tabone, who is Ms Metsola’s brother-in-law, has been responsible for the day-to-day running of her office in the European Parliament. During the first term of office of the President of the European Parliament, he led the internal reform aimed at bringing greater transparency to the work of the Parliament in the wake of the ‘Qatargate’ scandal (see EUROPE 13224/6).
