Compared with the 2023 marketing year, the harvest forecasts of the EU’s agricultural organisations and cooperatives (Copa-Cogeca), published on Wednesday 10 July, show a 4.7% fall in European cereals production in 2024.
Production is estimated at 257.3 million tonnes (Mt) of cereals, “well below” the average for European cereal production over the last five years (-8.4%), according toCopa-Cogeca, which is expecting a fall in wheat (-6.3%) and barley (-9%) production.
