International Federation of Journalists welcomes release of whistleblower Julian Assange

25/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) welcomed the release of whistleblower Julian Assange, on Monday 24 June, as a “significant victory for media freedom” in a statement issued on Tuesday. The criminalisation of “normal journalistic practices”, in particular encouraging sources “to confidentially share evidence of wrongdoing”, was at stake, according to the organisation.
