Member States express concerns about impact of increased weight of heavy vehicles on their infrastructure

At their Council meeting in Luxembourg on Tuesday 18 June, the European transport ministers discussed two texts from the ‘Greening Freight Transport’ package: the directive on the combined transport of goods (see EUROPE B13429A7) and the directive on the weights and dimensions of certain road vehicles (see EUROPE B13428A15). Fears about the impact of the increased weight of heavy vehicles on road infrastructure have not been allayed.
