06/06/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 5 June, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) gave their assent to the EU Council’s draft recommendation on vaccine-preventable cancers. The Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) will formally adopt this text on Friday 21 June in Luxembourg (see EUROPE 13424/28). The recommendation follows the objectives set out in the 2021 ‘Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan’ and aims to implement a Europe-wide campaign to step up prevention and vaccination against vaccine-preventable cancers, in particular the human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV). This recommendation also encourages the EU to strengthen measurement tools and share best practice between Member States. Link to the draft recommendation: https://aeur.eu/f/ck1 (PC - intern)
