16/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Citizens’ Panel on Energy Efficiency, made up of 150 citizens, finalised 13 recommendations for the European Commission at its session from 12 to 14 April in Brussels, as announced by the Commission on Monday 15 April. Since February 2024, the citizens have been discussing the challenges and benefits of energy efficiency (see EUROPE 13370/39). The recommendations and contributions from the citizen engagement platform will form the basis of a Commission recommendation on the ‘energy efficiency first’ principle. This initiative is part of the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU plan, which aim to reduce energy consumption, strengthen energy security and support climate objectives.
