16/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 April, a coalition of European NGOs (BirdLife Europe, Climate Action Network Europe, the European Environmental Bureau, Transport & Environment and WWF Europe) published a scoreboard of the European Parliament, which assesses the voting behaviour of MEPs over the course of the current parliamentary term and compares it with the recommendations of these environmental organisations. By scoring 30 dossiers covering the main legislation on climate, energy and the environment, three types of profile can be identified for each State and for each group: the “protectors”, the “procrastinators” and the “prehistoric thinkers”. The authors do, however, note nuances within political groups and national parties, and it is possible to find ‘protectors’ across the political spectrum - with the exception of the extreme right.
