16/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 April, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced that he had appointed 44 Heads of Delegation, Heads of Office and Chargés d’affaires of the European Union for the next diplomatic rotation at the EU delegations around the world. The nominees include the former Secretary-General of the European Commission Martin Selmayr, who has been appointed EU Ambassador to the Holy See, the Order of Malta and United Nations organisations. The European Union Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, will become the EU Ambassador to Switzerland. 11 deputy heads have also been appointed. Mr Borrell has also chosen Simon Mordue, currently Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council, as the Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Global Issues within the European External Action Service.
