The 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) (see EUROPE B13370A36) concluded in New York on Friday 22 March with a commitment by UN member states to step up the fight against poverty among women and girls.
As 10.3% of women worldwide live in extreme poverty, the CSW68 conclusions call for a reform of the international financial architecture, deemed to be ill-adapted to the current crises, and recommend measures such as debt relief and fairer taxation.
