EU welcomes an international agreement on an increase in Chilean jack mackerel quotas in South Pacific

The 12th annual meeting of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) ended on Friday 2 February, with an agreement on an increase in the total allowable catch (TAC) for Chilean jack mackerel, which the European Commission welcomed in a press release published on Wednesday 7 February.

The agreement on the allocation of Chilean jack mackerel, valid for the next ten years, provides a “stable and scientifically-backed framework for the fishing industry”,...
