15/12/2023 (Agence Europe) – Negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union are due to meet for a fifth time on Monday 18 December to continue discussions on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). According to a European source contacted on Friday 15 December, this ‘trilogue’ could be “conclusive”. The Member States’ ambassadors to the EU met on the same day to agree on the final points of the text that still need to be addressed. These are “highly political”, such as governance, financial guarantees for Member States, applications and delegated acts of the European Commission. However, some “technical fine-tuning” will undoubtedly be necessary under the Belgian Presidency in the first half of 2024, particularly with regard to the recitals of the future legislative text (see EUROPE 13293/10).
