15/12/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 14 December, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published its roadmap for implementing the latest ‘Basel III’ reforms in the European Union (see EUROPE 13210/1). This roadmap clarifies in particular how it will draw up the mandates for implementing the future European banking prudential rules, with the aim of finalising the most important elements before 1 January 2025. The EBA’s mandates concerning the regime for branches of banks from third countries, the management and reporting of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, enhanced tools for supervising banks, and the creation of the Pillar III data hub designed to strengthen market discipline.
