16/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – In a statement issued on Saturday 14 October by the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Union condemned the suicide attack on a Shia mosque in Pul-e-Khumri, in the province of Baghlan, Afghanistan. The attack took place on Friday 13 October and targeted worshippers during prayer, killing at least seven of them, according to the EEAS. “Attacks that deliberately target civilians are violations of fundamental human rights and international humanitarian law. The human rights of all Afghans, including the right to life and the rights of all ethnic and religious communities, have to be protected and respected”, said the EEAS, adding that its thoughts were with the victims of the attack and their families.
