On Friday 14 July, the European Commission adopted the 2022 edition of its annual report on monitoring the application of EU law.

In 2022, the European Commission opened 551 new infringement proceedings. All Member States were concerned by the opening of new infringement proceedings, and solutions were found before action was brought before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in 96% of cases.

Appeals were lodged with the CJEU in 35 cases, compared with 31 the previous year...
