Green light for a public guarantee of €250 million for social investments via Council of Europe Development Bank

13/07/23 (Agence Europe) – As part of an agreement with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) signed in November 2022, the InvestEU programme approved a new guarantee for €250 million of investments in affordable social housing, skills and social enterprises on Tuesday 12 July. This announcement brings to five the number of operations financed by the CEB with the support of the European programme. “Affordable housing is an acute problem in many regions of the EU”, noted Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights. CEB Governor Carlo Monticelli felt that this partnership could “provide vital financing for Europe to respond to today’s formidable social challenges”. (VL)
