07/07/23 (Agence Europe) – The Netherlands submitted, on Thursday 6 July, a revised recovery plan to the European Commission, including a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to accelerate the energy transition (see EUROPE 13035/30). This chapter includes a new reform aimed at reducing congestion on the electricity grid and accelerating renewable energy production projects, as well as a new investment, namely the strengthening of the aid scheme for energy efficiency measures (installation of heat pumps, insulation of buildings, etc.) taken by households and businesses. Three measures have also been reviewed, including investment in zero-emission vessels for inland navigation. The revised Dutch recovery plan will be allocated €5.4 billion in the form of grants only.
