Pedro Sánchez announces early elections at start of Spanish Presidency of EU Council

30/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 29 May, the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced that early general elections would be held on 23 July, following a large conservative victory in municipal and regional elections on 28 May. The election was originally due to take place at the end of the year.
