21/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – At a working meeting in Vilnius on 13-14 April, the seven members of the joint investigation team (JIT), supported by Eurojust, agreed to investigate not only alleged war crimes, but also crimes of genocide. The JIT also welcomes the commitment of the US Department of Justice to second a prosecutor to the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression (ICPA) (see EUROPE 13135/12). Indeed, one of the main items on the agenda of the coordination meeting was the steps to be taken to set up the ICPA and its future working methods. The centre was set up at the beginning of March to try the instigators - including the most senior officials - of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. (NP)
