14/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 April, the European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) launched a public consultation on three proposals from electricity grid operators for a harmonised cross-zonal capacity allocation methodology for procuring electricity balancing capacity. The aim is to balance the electricity grid more efficiently. The proposals received aim to reduce the costs of acquiring electricity balancing capacity while ensuring a stable supply. “This can be achieved by reducing the overall balancing capacity needs and lowering the procurement cost of that balancing capacity which needs to be procured,” ACER explained. The public consultation ends on 11 May 2023. At the same time, ACER will evaluate the three proposals and make a decision by July. Read the ACER document: https://aeur.eu/f/6bq (PLD)
