EU and Ottawa want to strengthen their support for Ukraine, including military support

At a joint press conference in Canada with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on Tuesday 7 March, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU and Canada are “stepping up [their] support for Ukraine, including [their] military support”.

The EU has so far provided military equipment worth €12 billion and aims to train 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of 2023, Ms von der Leyen said.
