16/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – After revoking the Nicaraguan nationality of 222 political prisoners who were released and deported to the United States (see EUROPE 13119/17), the Ortega regime did the same to another 94 dissidents, who also had their property confiscated. “This is a violation of their fundamental rights and a breach of international law”, the spokesperson for the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday 16 February. He recalls that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights protects the right of every person to a nationality and prohibits its arbitrary deprivation (Article 15). (MB)
