06/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – With the focus in 2023 being on professional qualifications (see EUROPE 13041/20), the Swedish Presidency intends to concentrate its efforts on “matching skill sets to labour market needs”. It states that it wants to “highlight how education can contribute to [the ecological and digital] transition and upskilling” and “initiate a discussion on the conditions necessary for both individuals and businesses to be able to obtain the skills they need for the green transition”. Stockholm also intends to “start considering” the European Commission’s recommendations on the digitalisation of education in the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027). These focus on the development of computer skills and hybrid learning methods. Finally, Sweden will continue to work towards the realisation of a European education area (see EUROPE 13066/14), focussing in particular on the recognition of diplomas.
