European Research Council will award €295 million to 29 multidisciplinary scientific projects

25/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Research Council (ERC) unveiled, on Tuesday 25 October, the 29 projects selected in its first “ERC Synergy Grants” under the European framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe. The “Synergy Grants” aim to encourage innovative multidisciplinary research projects. The 29 projects were selected from 360 proposals and are each led by a group of two to four researchers from different scientific disciplines. The selected projects will share a total of €295 million, which is equivalent to over €10 million per project. The European Commission estimates that these grants should create almost 1,000 jobs for post-docs, PhDs and other staff in research teams.
