Brussels, 25/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission adopted, on Tuesday 25 October, a €115 million programme to support the ecological, inclusive and innovative development of Morocco’s agricultural and forestry sectors. The ‘Terre Verte’ programme aims to contribute to the Moroccan national strategies ‘Green Generation’ and ‘Moroccan Forests’ covering the period 2020-2030, by promoting an ecological transition conducive to the creation of decent work opportunities in the agricultural and forestry sectors. According to the Commission, ‘Terre Verte’ aims to support sustainable agricultural value chains, forest protection and management, and job creation and social inclusion in both sectors. The programme will operate in the pilot regions of Tetouan - Tangier - Al Hoceima, Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Draa-Tafilalet and L’Oriental. The EU-Morocco Green Partnership is the first such initiative with a partner country. (CG)
