Record growth in wind and solar power helped EU avoid €11bn in gas imports between March and September 2022, according to report

19/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – Thanks to a record increase in wind and solar capacity, the European Union was able to save €11 billion between March and September 2022, avoiding the need to import an additional 8 billion cubic metres (bcm) of fossil gas, according to a report published by the NGO Ember and the think tank E3G on Tuesday 18 October.
