30/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 30 September, 100 more regions and local authorities joined the EU’s mission to adapt to climate change. The aim is to contribute to the implementation of the EU’s ‘Green Deal’ and ‘Climate Adaptation Strategy’. To achieve this, it intends to support at least 150 European regions, cities or local authorities to become resilient against the consequences of climate change by 2030. In concrete terms, the signatories of the Charter of the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change commit to collective consideration and discussion on best practice in the climate field. After a first wave of members in June 2022, it now has 215 parties from 24 Member States as well as 13 parties from Horizon Europe associated countries. The mission will be funded with €370 million from Horizon Europe for the period 2021-2023. (HS)
