30/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – As announced yesterday by Commissioner Thierry Breton (see EUROPE 13032/2), the European Commission launched a public consultation on Friday 30 September to prepare its legislation on raw materials. In its appeal, the Commission details the main pillars: - define European priorities and targets for defining ‘critical raw materials’; - improve risk monitoring and management and governance at EU level in this area; - strengthen European raw materials value chains (mining, refining, processing, recycling); - ensure fair competition in the single market; - consolidate and target international partnerships (a communication is in prospect); - accelerate raw materials research and innovation; - train the workforce to meet the needs of the ecosystem. The consultation is open until 25 November. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/3cs (PH)
