Euro area inflation estimated at 10.0% in September

30/09/2022 (Agence Europe)Euro area annual inflation is estimated at 10.0% in September, up from 9.1% in August, according to a flash estimate published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 30 September. It is highest in Estonia (24.2%), Lithuania (22.5%) and Latvia (22.4%) and lowest in France (6.2%), Malta (7.3%) and Finland (8.4%). Price increases are expected to reach 10.9% in Germany, 9.5% in Italy and 9.3% in Spain. As regards the main components of inflation, energy still has the highest annual rate (40.8%), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (11.8%), industrial goods excluding energy (5.6%) and services (4.3%). In August, the unemployment rate remained stable in both the euro area (6.6%) and the EU (6.0%) compared to the previous month. (MB)
