The European Innovation Council (EIC) announced on Friday 9 September that it had received 25 applications for the €20 million call for projects opened on 23 June to support the Ukrainian innovation community (see EUROPE 12968/29).
The call for projects also aims to strengthen the capacity of the Ukrainian innovation community to interact with the European innovation system and to benefit from European funding instruments. This call is expected to help support at least 200 innovative Ukrainian start-ups and companies operating in deep tech. Each will be entitled to €60 000 of support from the Horizon Europe programme.
In addition, the EIC’s support will take the form of several types of non-financial action: the provision of business services and networking services.
Furthermore, the EIC has announced that Sergey Sereda, an innovator based in Ukraine, has been appointed EIC Ambassador in his country. Sereda is the co-founder and managing partner of the start-up PIPES.one, a beneficiary of the EIC Accelerator.
